Beauty Shoot With Hannah Ramsay

The beautiful Hannah Ramsay came over a few days ago. I was so excited to work with her! She is such a motivating and sweet person. Hannah has beautiful blonde hair, so I wanted to play up all of her natural features with a smokey mauve eye and a light lip.
Here are some of the products I used:
*Urban Decay Palette 3
*Anastasia Brow Palette (blonde and soft brown)
*Model Rock Demi Lashes
*NXY Lace Detail Matte Lipstick With Clear Gloss Over Top
*Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter

Photoshoot With Shannon Isaacs

I am really loving how my new adventure in photography is allowing me to be creative and really get into the nitty gritty of beauty. I love close up portraits that show off a women's natural beauty. I created this soft summer bridal look on Shannon, I wanted her skin to glow. I used rose gold on her eyes (tan pigment from Mac), and of course lots of lashes. I usually always do a custom lip colour for pretty much everyone, mixing about 3-6 different colours!

Shannon is a model who works with Scout Development in Halifax and B&M models in Toronto. My friend Nicole from OH DINA! lent me some flower crowns, I hope you like the results!

Before and Afters

When I first started on my photography journey I was hesitant to post before and afters. I really wanted to focus on afters. However, I started getting emails from girls saying they would love to do a beauty session but they are not models and don't feel like they would look as good in front of the camera. I truly feel like every women has beautiful features and there is always something to focus on, lips, eyes, or sometimes everything! So I decided to start doing some simple before and afters to show the power of makeup. Obviously these girls were beautiful before and beautiful after! I hope you like!

Ps: these are NOT photoshopped!

Beauty Session With Nicole from OH DINA!

Ok I have to admit I have been slack on blogging! After Remy was born things got a little hairy, and sleep was non-existent. But now that the little fella has decided to sleep, I am back on track!
I have been working hard over the past 3 months, my goal was to learn how to better document my work. I learned how to use my camera and really wanted to step up my social media game. I didn't think I would love photography as much as I do! I am having so much fun creating some interesting photoshoots, before and afters and so much more! I feel so free, and I am so excited for the future.
I approached my sweet friend Nicole from OH DINA! to come over get her makeup done and I would take some photos of her. If you haven't heard about her, she makes the most beautiful headpieces, incorporating everything from flowers to sand dollers . She is such a talent and a beautiful person. She was such a natural in front of the camera and her energy had me so inspired.

Here are some of my favourite photos from our session.

Seaside Coastal Styled Shoot

I had a chance encounter with a photographer on Instagram. I noticed she was coming to Nova Scotia from Toronto and wanted to plan a styled shoot. I contacted her and the rest is history! She mentioned she wanted to do a beach shoot, I was a little nervous because we shot this in November! Thankfully it was a nice day and Haley was a trooper!
Madison Rose is so talented and I jumped at the opportunity to work with her. We planned this styled shoot based on a mermaid on the ocean, soft blues, a flowing dress and everything sea inspired. I love planning and designing styled shoots, this was the second one I had collaborated with the photographer to design something special. I wanted the makeup to be natural but yet glamorous. Haley is so beautiful, she was so easy to work on. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do!

I Won Bronze for The Best Of Weddings Halifax!!

I can't even tell you how happy I was seeing my name under Best Makeup Artist, for The Coast's Best Of Halifax Weddings. I have had this as a goal of mine for a very long time, and this year I won! The thing that makes me most happy is it is voted for by the people. I have been working so hard to grow my business over the last few years and this has made me more motivated than ever. When you love what you do and you are recognized for it, it is the best feeling in the world. I am so thankful for all my wonderful clients and all of their support. Kailee who graced the cover this year was one of my favourite brides from 2016. I knew when I met her, her wedding was going to be extra special, and obviously some others did too!

Thank you Halifax!!

Peggy's Cove Styled Shoot

One thing I am so grateful for over the past few years is the number of styled shoots I am asked to work on. An amazing photographer, Julia Park, came to Nova Scotia from Toronto this summer and asked to design and create the makeup for her beautiful photoshoot. I wanted to do a more natural soft look for this one. Showcasing the models natural beauty and highlighting her features. Being dramatic doesn't mean you have to wear dark makeup, being glamorously you is also a very in demand look. Here are some of my favourites!

Seaside Styled Shoot

Melissa Kew Photography asked me to do the makeup for a dreamy seaside shoot at Crystal Crescent Beach. Melissa is from Halifax but living in Ottawa, while visiting home she planned this beautiful shoot. I just love how these photos turned out, they are so dreamy! I gave our model Rachel a soft glam wedding look. I played up all of her features, making her look good was not hard! Check out the pictures!

Styled Mommy And Baby Photoshoot

Sheridan is a new mom and has a mommy blog right here in Halifax called She has been so successful, you have to check it out! She was in need of a glam mommy look, she really wanted to play up her eyes, and I think she looks stunning! Having your makeup done for professional photos makes a huge difference, as you can see! Even if you are already good at doing your makeup, a makeup artist knows how to highlight your best features for the camera. Well worth it!

The ever talented OH'DINA provided the flower crowns for Sheridan and baby Kia, as well as Kia's adorable sandals, how cute!!

The beautiful clothes were made by local thief and bandit,  You need to check them out, so stylish and comfortable!

Chantal Routhier was the photographer, how beautiful are these photos! So bright and bold, I just can't get enough. She is such a talented (and sweet) local photographer, photographing everything from weddings to newborns. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do!

Winter Styled Shoot

I love styled shoots, talented wedding vendors collaborating on something truly unique. This time I had a heavy hand in planning and styling this shoot. It was really fun to be a part of something so creative. I am so excited to share these photos, they are so incredibly beautiful. I wanted to something bold with Sarah's makeup. I chose to focus on her lips with a bold burgundy lipstick, her brows and lashes. I wanted her skin to be perfect and her face to to nicely contoured, leaving her eyes somewhat neutral. I always try and talk my brides into wearing a bit of colour on their lips. For photography it really makes your face seem bright and makes you pop!  I hope these photos give you some inspiration for your wedding!

Brendal's Lunenburg Wedding

I love Lunenburg, and it is such a perfect place for a wedding. Brendal was married on the water over the September long weekend. She normally doesn't wear makeup, but she wanted to go all out for her wedding day. Red lips and some winged liner! My personal favourite look, it really pops in photos, as you can tell, it really makes an impact! They also made their own flower crowns, and they turned out soon pretty! I did the makeup for Brendal, her bridal party and her mother.  Eldie Photography

A Before & After Photoshoot

Can I just say that I love before and after photoshoots! It really shows the power of makeup, no matter how you are feeling, makeup can give you a little extra confidence, and who doesn't need that! Jennifer Murphy Photography took these lovely photos of Meagan, who was obviously gorgeous before, and didn't need much. She was heading to a wedding right after her shoot and wanted to look pretty natural. I played up her eyes and gave her a soft natural glam look. Meagan doesn't normally wear makeup and she loved the end result!
